Is cricket poop bad for you to inhale?

Someone desperately needs to know! 2 people to be exact.

That was one of my keyword searches that was the #1 return to my page. It lead them to this Gross Shit post that doesn't even mention crickets.

It piqued my curiosity, so I did some extensive research. Well ok.. not extensive. it took 10 minutes. Though I couldn't find anything about health risks, I did find benefits for using cricket poop as fertilizer.

According to Cricket Poo FAQ

CricketPoo! is 100% pure "cricket litter" - the stuff that's left in the bottom of thousands of cricket "brooders" (big boxes that live crickets are produced in). The exact proportions can vary a bit from one brooder to the next, but on average it's around 98% pure cricket manure, and 2% a mix of shed cricket skins, a little cricket food (fancy chicken feed), and a few shreds of paper products chewed up by the crickets (feed plates, etc.). CricketPoo! is NOT icky or sticky - it has a dry, sandy-like texture, and doesn't have much odor.

Why is Organic Fertilizer Better Than Chemical Fertilizer?

It's Healthy
On average, organically produced foods contain higher levels of Vitamin C and essential minerals such as calcium, magnesium, iron and chromium as well as cancer-fighting antioxidants.

It's Good for the Soil
Organics replenish and maintain long-term soil fertility by providing optimal conditions for biological activity.

It's Good for the Environment
Chemicals can harm soil life, deplete non-renewable resources, pose hazards to water and air quality and threaten human health. Millions of YOUR TAX DOLLARS are spent each year on removing harmful chemicals from drinking water, mainly as a result of pesticides used in farming.

CricketPoo! vs Other Organic Fertilizers
Product % N % P % K Total NPK Value
CricketPoo! 4.04 2.18 2.26 8.48
Chicken Squat 1.00 0.80 0.39 2.19
Horse Plop 0.70 0.25 0.77 1.72
Worm Castings 0.86 0.37 0.25 1.48
Cow Patties 0.57 0.23 0.62 1.42
Swine Slop 0.49 0.34 0.47 1.30

So there you have it people.. snort up all you want. It's good for you!
