Things I learned on Memorial Day

*Disclaimer I have the utmost respect for our military. I am not making fun of the seriousness day in any way shape or form. I appreciate everything our men in uniform, past, present and future have done/will do for this great country.

  1. It's a sad day when you have to go to the laundromat to make your day better.
  2. Laundromats have air conditioning. For those of you who are wondering why this is such a big deal, must not have read Sunday's post. (Rather than generating more heat then neccesary, I went here instead to do laundry)
  3. Not everyone BBQ's on this day. Some drag their brats to the laundromat run back and forth, yell, cry, scream whilst I am trying to enjoy my day not sweating my ass off in my house.
  4. The rest of the people spend Memorial Day in Wal-Mart. The freaking place was PACKED when I went to get more detergent. Don't you people have lives?
  5. Not everyone speaks English. Well, that one I've known, but it made it stand out even more.
  6. How in the hell are less fortunate people supposed to save up for a washer and dryer when it can cost almost $10 to do 2 loads?
  7. I need to get a small business loan and open a laundromat.
  8. People you went to school with 20 years ago are still around and still just as scary as ever. They also don't have a washer and/or dryer.
  9. You can get a lot of laundry done in just nine hours . I had a lot of it, cuz I hate to do laundry so it piles up. Besides, 2 birds 1 stone. Stay cool, be productive.
  10. Marine Corps is the only branch of the military that does not have a time out card. This was told to me by a divorced guy with a broken washer at the end of my 9 hour laundry shift. I think he was hitting on me very nice. His son is in the Marine Corps and shared that info with me.
  11. I will actually fold laundry when I have no other distractions and nothing else to do. I will NOT fold socks. They are still in a laundry bag in the car along with the laundry I did on my second trip.
  12. The clothes will probably stay in the back of my car for months. We are all pretty lazy in this respect. We will all be making nekkid trips out there after our showers.

Thank you today is MUCH better. I am at work in an AC'd building.. I might just have to sleep here.. Yes it was a great relief to get all that laundry done. Now I am down to 7 or 8 loads.. sigh.. I will wait till new AC gets installed for that

I thought we were the only one that did naked trips to the car?! hahaha Sometimes you dont feel like getting dressed just to run out to the driveway :)

Oh and I have fired our laundry folding lady, I had to before she quit, I hate being let go so I had to let myself go first. Nena your FIRED! Apparently there were not any replacements in mind for the position because I have continuously been piling load after load on the couch and by some miraculous powers the level of clothes always seems to stay the same no matter how many loads I wash...because our couches for the last few weeks have become everyone's dresser.

I will wait until I beg for my job back before I call myself to get to folding...

SIGH.. Ya know.. I've been wanting to do that for a while. Unfortunately new clothes cost more than the laundromat

I used to like going to the l-mat. It was next door to the pizzaria, and had an ice cream shop on the other side.

I kinda miss laundromats. Ever since we bought our house and got our own washer and dryer, Marine dads stopped hitting on me.

Damn the bad luck. Mine is surrounded by an appliance store (ironic huh?) and a Burger king.
