United States of the Offended
That title is borrowed from my husband (not sure if he made it up or if he heard it somewhere) This is what it seems we have become.
I am ranting today after watching a news story, if you are looking for funny from me today, I apologize.
The story that makes me irate can be found here
The story is about a fallen solider Lance Corporal Christopher Fowlkes who was killed in Afghanistan earlier this month. His casket was brought through the town in Gaffney, SC to be honored. A friend or family member put American flags along the route to help honor him.
Included in the route was the Bank of America. A bank employee came out and pulled the flags up stating "he was afraid it would offend some of their customers"
WHAT? Wait a minute. The banks name is Bank of AMERICA. It's logo looks oddly enough like an American flag
It seems to me that anybody who would be offended wouldn't bank there.
To be fair, "The company said in a statement, "This was all a big miscommunication between their corporate office and the branch. The bank does fly the American flag at our locations throughout the country and flags were displayed in front of our banking center in Gaffney the evening prior to our dedicated Marine returning home. We deeply apologize for any misunderstandings."
This misunderstanding of one employee's interpretation of the rules has been met with Cherokee County and others closing their accounts with the bank.
I am saddened by the lowered standard of our country. If anyone is offended by what our country stands for; they should go back to where they came from or at the very least be as tolerant of us as they insist that we are to them.
My thoughts and prayers are with all of our Military past, present and future as well as for their proud families who live in fear from day to day that they might never see their loved ones again.

Wow,crazy stuff. Growing up in the military I know those who are so bravely in the military pray for peace everyday. We may have our problems but we are still a beautiful country. It's global now,we are all interdependent. So when we hurt our neighbors,we hurt ourselves. That's the shift all countries hopefully begin to understand and express.Time to Love and Honor one another.I think we got what it takes to begin. Love America! Peace
Shelly
I think you are right, I am just impatient for the good to conquer evil. I am proud of our country too, just saddened by stories like these.
Thank you for your uplifting comment on a BLAH post.
I would love to hear/see what it was that made that employee do that? Is BOA backtracking now that it's in hot water or is that employee just really an idiot?
Dizzie that is tragic that it even happened at all.
Yeesh. I'm glad they got it straightened out, but boy howdy talk about something that makes you go...
Hmm.
Jo.. I think it is probably a little bit of both. I am glad that county closed their account. It says a lot about their integrity
QL It is a shame.. I just don't understand what makes people not think before they act I can't help but shake my head
Anyone willing to die for my freedom deserves my utmost respect regardless of their nationality, religion, race, etc. Come on people!
Sherri.. I couldn't have said it better myself!
Dar.. I wish would could form a country-wide coup and take it back! Let everyone know that we were here first and that they cannot come here and force us to conform to please them..
Unfortunately.. that would mean a war..something we DON'T need
Totally ridiculous and unacceptable. I keep all my banking with local credit unions.
What a bunch of ass-hats, we all need to honor those who have given their service.
I'm offended by the lack of stars in the BoA logo. For all we know, it could be the Bank of Great Britain.
Jesus H. Christ! Bank of AMERICA might offend AMERICAN customers with AMERICAN flags?
I'm glad I don't bank at BofA. I agree with you, if you don't like it, go home.
PT I think this has outraged a lot of people and hopefully opened some eyes to what we have become
Mr. C O don't bank with them either.. but I would have closed any accounts if I had
Chris.. love "asshats" my new fav expression. They do need to be honored
CB.. I never thought about t that way.. but who knows.. the way banks are being bought and sold.. I wouldn't doubt it. Thanks for stopping by
Scandy.. I know.. go figure.. I was speechless when I tried to figure it out.
Suzy.. I don't bank with them either thank God. If I did.. I'd pull my money faster than thy pulled the flags
I welcome anyone complaining about this country to please go live in another country for awhile.
RG: I will help pay for their plane ticket!
Sad to say the least...but hilarious that the story was about BofA. I laughed out loud! Ridiculous! Thanks for the post that made me think and made me laugh.
life... welcome to the bloggy world. Thank you for stopping by my blog. I realized the irony in it as well. Too much!
MG: I hope a lot of people will change banks after hearing of this story.
You said it.. "Don't let the door know hit ya where the Good Lord split ya!"
Anyone who gets offended by someone flying the American flag in America can go back to their native countries and f*** themselves.
Shwew! Glad I got that off my chest. : )
I agree wholeheartedly! The American flag offending Americans? You just made my blood pressure go up. Perhaps that person needs to go live in a dry hot violent country, then we can see who will be offended.
Of course Bank of America removed the flags! They are a bunch of bloodsuckers who squeeze the life out of American consumers every day. Maybe they felt guilty flying the flags? It is hard to be patriotic and repossess someone's home in the same breath!
Stupid blogger won't let me sign in.. but it's me..dizz...
JJ I think you just spoke for all of us!! Thank you that is my sentiment exactly!
Etta.. didn't mean to boil you blood.. but it made mine boil too. I hope a lot of people close their accounts after reading this story
Holy Crap! I hadn't even heard this story, but it would seem that Bank of America wouldn't need to be so worried about American flags.
Who knows what that guy was thinking. Or not thinking.
